Downtown Bryan is a wealth of history, and the many important, historical buildings are what make the downtown area so amazing.  In honor of this history, based around the local and still used railways, these small painted statues of Locomotives can be found at various places in the Downtown area.  Each one painted differently, and each one representative of a different important value, moment, or era in Bryan's past.

At the center of this is the goregous Carnegie Public Library that now hosts a collection of the many aftifacts and stories that make the Brazos Valley what it is today.  Originally, the center was Bryan's first public library and was built using the generous donation from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.  The center was renamed after the construction of the Bryan Public Library, and is a wonderful place that every Bryan visitor should see to experience Bryan's past and see how the city has evolved into the trade center it has become.

Another staple in the Downtown area is the beautiful Bryan Courthouse.  Originally constructed in 1871 by Harvey Mitchell, but by 1892 the building's foundation had cracked badly and the building needed to be constructed.  So, that same year Bryan began reconstructing the beautiful White-Sandstone building that stands today and graces Bryan's Historical Downtown district.

The Palace is a great place to bring the family on the weekends as this outdoor stage area is frequently used to bring the performing arts and strong family values to the streets of Downtown Bryan.  The Palace is a place you just cant miss if you visit downtown Bryan on a weekend, and you can find out more on the scheduling for The Palace at the official website of downtown Bryan.

Along with these major buildings in the historic downtown area, there are many different restaurants and shops that have remained in the area for generations serving the Soda Pop era in the 1950s all the way to the Wireless Coffee bars of today.  It is these many businesses that give Bryan its historical, colorful, friendly aura as well as the new buildings coming into the area due to the high-speed internet system. The brand new Daniel-Stark building is a modern marvel in the downtown area, and hopefully more modern buildings will continue to move into the area in the coming years.  Read more about the restoration of downtown bryan on The Comeback Page.
